Quick answer

A dedicated ecommerce team for hire is a group of full-time staff who work only on your store but are employed and managed by a provider. With Ecom Relays Dedicated Ops Team, you meet and approve each person, pay their salary at cost plus $399 a month each for management, and keep every account and file in your name. The total can be up to 70% lower than the fully loaded cost of a comparable US hire; the method is below.

What a dedicated ecommerce team is

A dedicated team is staff, not a service. Each person works full time on your business, follows your priorities and learns your catalog, suppliers and customers the way an employee would. What you do not do is recruit them, buy their equipment, manage their day, cover their absences or secure their logins. We do that.

It differs from the other ways owners get help:

  • Freelancers sell hours, often to several clients at once. Nobody supervises them or covers them when they leave.
  • An agency sells an outcome on its own process and staff, shared across clients.
  • Our Ops Desk is a managed service: a named ops lead and a pod run your operations to a fixed monthly scope. With Dedicated Ops Team, you direct the people; we manage them.

If you want the work run for you, start with Ops Desk. If you want your own people without the overhead of employing them, this page is for you. Our comparison of a dedicated team and freelancers goes deeper on that choice.

Roles you can hire

You can hire one person or a team. Each role has its own page with day-to-day duties, tools, KPIs and what you need to provide.

RoleWhat they do every day

What the $399 management fee covers

The management fee pays for everything that turns a salary into a working, supervised, secure team member. It is $399 a month per person.

  • Recruiting: role scoping, sourcing and screening, before you meet the shortlist.
  • Onboarding: setup of tools and access, your procedures and a ramp-up plan.
  • Daily supervision: a lead who checks the work, unblocks problems and keeps the schedule.
  • Performance tracking against the KPIs you agree, reviewed with you on a fixed cadence.
  • Replacement at no extra fee if someone leaves or is not the right fit.
  • Premises: dedicated production rooms, equipment, backup power and internet.
  • Data security: company-managed devices, multi-factor authentication on every account, named logins only and access removed within 24 hours of any change.

What it does not cover: third-party software and tool subscriptions your team uses, which you pay directly, and the salary itself, which is passed through at cost.

What a dedicated ecommerce team costs

You pay two things per person: their monthly salary, passed through at cost and shown on every invoice, and the $399 monthly management fee. Billing is monthly in advance. The first term is 3 months, then month to month with 30 days' notice. Your written proposal shows the real salary for each person before you agree.

Compared with a US employee doing the same job, the total can be up to 70% lower than the fully loaded cost of a comparable US hire. This is how we work that out.

Salary$50,000 a year$16,800 a year
Benefits and payroll taxes (the 30% share: salary ÷ 0.70, less salary)About $21,400Covered by the salary and the management fee
Management feeNone$4,788 a year ($399 x 12)
TotalAbout $71,400 a yearAbout $21,600 a year
DifferenceAbout 70% lower

The method: divide the US salary by 0.70 to get its fully loaded cost, then compare it with the dedicated salary plus twelve months of management fees. We divide by 0.70 because BLS puts benefits at 30.0% of total compensation for private industry workers in June 2026, with wages and salaries at 70.0% (Employer Costs for Employee Compensation, released Sep 9, 2026). Equipment and office space are not in the BLS figure, so the real cost of a US hire is usually higher still.

Actual salaries depend on the role and experience, and some roles will show a smaller difference. Your own hiring costs, management time and tools are not in either column. The full method, BLS wage data by occupation and what the comparison leaves out are on our dedicated ecommerce team cost page.

How hiring and onboarding work, step by step

Every step ends with something you can see or approve. Start dates depend on the role and the candidates, so your proposal states them in writing rather than us promising a number here.

  1. Free session. A 30-minute call with an ops lead about the work you need covered, your tools and how many hours of overlap with your day you need.
  2. Role scope. We write each role down: duties, tools, KPIs, schedule and who on your side sets priorities.
  3. Proposal. Each role's salary, the $399 management fee, the start date and the terms, in writing.
  4. Shortlist and interviews. We recruit and test candidates, and you meet and approve each person before they start. If you do not like the shortlist, we keep looking.
  5. Onboarding. Named logins with multi-factor authentication on a company-managed device, your procedures loaded, a ramp-up plan and a first set of KPI targets.
  6. Daily work. Your person works an agreed schedule that overlaps US business hours, takes priorities from your named contact and is supervised by our lead.
  7. Reviews. KPIs reviewed with you on a fixed cadence. Problems are raised early and in writing.
  8. Replacement. If someone leaves or is not the right fit, we recruit and onboard a replacement at no extra fee.

How supervision and performance tracking work

Supervision is the part freelancers do not come with, and it is most of what the management fee buys. Each person has a lead on our side who checks the work every day: are tickets answered, are purchase orders drafted, did the inbound shipment check in, did the bid changes stay inside your rules?

KPIs are agreed per role before the start date and written into the role scope. A customer support agent might be measured on first reply time, resolution time and the share of tickets reopened. An Amazon account manager might be measured on account health metrics, stranded inventory and claims filed. You see the numbers with their source; we fix what is slipping before you have to ask.

Security and access

Your team works inside your accounts through named logins only, never an owner password and never a shared login. Every account uses multi-factor authentication. Work happens on company-managed devices in our production rooms, not on personal laptops at home. Access is removed within 24 hours of any change, such as a replacement or the end of the work.

On Amazon, Walmart and Shopify we use the access route each platform approves for service providers, with the least permissions each role needs and no bank, payout or legal-entity permissions. An NDA and a Data Processing Addendum are ready to sign. Read our security and access practices.

Ecomrelays LLC is a Texas company. Part of our team works outside the US, as one managed team with a named US-facing lead. Each resource works an agreed schedule that overlaps US business hours.

What you provide

  • Named user access to the tools each person needs, never owner passwords.
  • Day-to-day priorities and a named contact on your side who answers questions within a working day.
  • Your procedures, or time with us to write them in the first weeks.
  • Third-party tool and software costs, paid directly.

Who should hire a dedicated ecommerce team, and who should not

Right for you if:

  • You have enough recurring work to keep at least one person busy full time.
  • You or a manager can set priorities every day.
  • You want the same people learning your business month after month.
  • You sell on Amazon, Walmart or Shopify, or run an agency or operator business serving brands that do.

Not for you if:

  • You need a one-off project or a fixed deliverable. Relay Modules are priced per build.
  • You want someone else to own the outcome and the process. Ops Desk does that.
  • You want to manage freelancers yourself, hour by hour.
  • You are starting a store from scratch and need the product found too. Full Relay covers that.

What you keep

Every account, file, procedure and piece of work your team creates stays in your name and your systems. If you end the arrangement after the first term, with 30 days' notice, you get a written handover and our access is removed within 24 hours.

Our fees for this service are the management fee and the salary at cost. They are not a percentage of your sales or ad spend.

Questions

Questions owners ask about a dedicated ecommerce team

How much does a dedicated ecommerce team cost?

Each person costs their monthly salary, passed through at cost and shown on every invoice, plus a $399 monthly management fee. Your proposal shows the real salary for each person before you agree. Third-party tools are paid by you directly. Billing is monthly in advance, with a 3-month first term and then month to month on 30 days' notice.

How do you get to "up to 70% lower"?

We divide a US salary by 0.70 to get its fully loaded cost, because benefits are about 30% of total compensation (BLS), and compare it with the dedicated salary plus twelve months of fees. In our illustrative example, a $50,000 US salary is about $71,400 fully loaded, against $16,800 plus $4,788, about $21,600. That is about 70% lower. Real figures vary by role, and some roles show a smaller gap.

Do I get to choose the people?

Yes. You meet and approve each person before they start. If none of the shortlist fits, we keep recruiting. Once someone is working, you can ask for a replacement if they are not the right fit, at no extra fee.

Do they work only on my business?

Yes. Each resource is full time and works only for you. They are not shared across clients, and they work an agreed schedule that overlaps US business hours.

Where is the team?

Ecomrelays LLC is a Texas company. Part of our team works outside the US, as one managed team with a named US-facing lead. Your people work from our production rooms on company-managed devices, with backup power and internet.

Who manages them day to day?

You set the priorities; we supervise the work. A lead on our side checks the work every day, tracks KPIs you agreed and raises problems early. Your named contact answers questions and approves anything that spends money or changes a policy.

What happens if someone leaves or is not working out?

We replace them at no extra fee. We recruit, you approve the replacement and we handle onboarding and access. Access for the person leaving is removed within 24 hours.

Can I start with one person?

Yes. You can start with one role, for example an Amazon account manager or a customer support agent, and add people as the work grows. Each new person starts on the same terms: a 3-month first term, then month to month.

Is my data safe?

Your team uses named logins with multi-factor authentication on company-managed devices, never owner passwords or shared logins, and never bank or payout permissions. Access is removed within 24 hours of any change. An NDA and a Data Processing Addendum are ready to sign.

How is this different from Ops Desk?

Ops Desk is a managed service: we own the process and run your operations to a fixed scope for a fixed fee from $1,499 a month. With Dedicated Ops Team you direct full-time people who work only on your business, and we recruit, supervise and secure them.

Every Ecom Relays price is listed on Pricing and terms, and all our services are on the services overview.
