Walmart advertising management on Walmart Connect, for a flat fee

Our Walmart advertising management runs your Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Videos campaigns on Walmart Connect for a flat $299 a month up to $5,000 in monthly ad spend, or $599 a month up to $20,000. It is never a percentage of your spend. Because Walmart only serves Sponsored Products on items that are in stock, published and winning the buy box, we manage ads together with price and stock, not on their own.

Ad management from $299 a month, flat · Included up to $3,000 spend in Store Care Plus · Ad spend is paid by you to Walmart · Never a percentage of spend

Quick answer

Walmart advertising management is the weekly work of running Walmart Connect campaigns: choosing which items to advertise, setting bids and budgets, adding keywords and negatives and reading the results against margin. On Walmart it starts with eligibility, because Sponsored Products only run on items that are in stock, published and winning the buy box. Ecom Relays does it for a flat monthly fee.

Which Walmart Connect ads can sellers run?

Marketplace sellers mostly use three sponsored search formats, all charged per click. Walmart's own summary: "The most relevant product with the highest bid wins the ad placement" (Walmart Marketplace Learn, updated Oct 1, 2026).

Ad typeWhat it doesWho can use itCharged
Sponsored ProductsItem ads on high-traffic pages such as the home page, search results and item pagesAny item that is in stock, winning the buy box and published on Walmart.comCost per click
Sponsored BrandsYour logo, a headline and several items at the top of relevant searchesBrand owners based in the US, China, Hong Kong, UK or India, registered with the USPTO and onboarded to Walmart Brand PortalCost per click
Sponsored VideosShort shoppable videos in search resultsSame requirements as Sponsored BrandsCost per click

Walmart Connect also offers Onsite Display and Brand Shop and Shelf, a free virtual storefront for eligible brand owners (Walmart Marketplace Learn, updated Jan 3, 2025). For most marketplace sellers, sponsored search is where ad money is easiest to tie to margin, so that is where this service focuses.

Why Walmart ads depend on the buy box

On Walmart, a Sponsored Products ad is a promotion of the buy box offer. If your item loses the buy box to a lower price or a faster delivery promise, goes out of stock or is unpublished, its ads stop serving. That makes Walmart advertising management an operations job as much as a bidding job.

So before we spend a dollar, we check four things for every item you want to advertise:

  1. 01Published.

The item is live, with no unpublished reason code. Our Walmart listing optimization work covers fixes.

  2. 02Buy box.

You hold it at a price that still clears your margin floor. If you do not, we show you what it would take, and you decide whether that price makes sense.

  3. 03Stock.

Enough cover, in WFS or your own warehouse, that ads will not drive a stockout. Our WFS management work plans that cover.

  4. 04Content.

Title, images and attributes good enough to convert the clicks you pay for.

Items that fail a check do not get ads until they pass. If the buy box keeps slipping, our guide to Walmart buy box loss walks through the causes.

What does Walmart need for Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Videos?

A registered trademark and Brand Portal. Walmart requires a brand owner "registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office" and "onboarded to the Walmart Brand Portal," based in one of five listed countries (Walmart Marketplace Learn, updated Oct 1, 2026).

Brand Portal itself asks for a trademark "fully registered" with the USPTO, with a seven-digit registration number in active status. An eight-digit number is a serial number that, in Walmart's words, "may be pending" (Walmart Marketplace Learn, updated Oct 14, 2025). This is stricter than Amazon, where a pending application can be enough for Brand Registry. If your trademark is still pending, Walmart's brand ad formats will come later than Amazon's; our Amazon Brand Registry services page covers the Amazon side.

Getting started: Ad Center and new-seller credits

Self-serve Walmart Connect campaigns run in Ad Center, which Walmart links from its "Start advertising" button at advertising.walmart.com (Walmart Connect, checked Oct 20, 2026). You open the account in your company's name and keep the admin login; we work as named users.

New sellers may qualify for Walmart Connect credits under New-Seller Savings. Walmart's offer details (checked Oct 20, 2026):

CreditAmountConditions Walmart sets
Walmart Connect ad credit$500A new seller that has not advertised with Walmart Connect yet; an Ad Center account in good standing with at least one admin user; at least one item with an Offer Listing Quality score of 80 or higher; at least one item that ships in 3 days or less or uses WFS. Opt in through Walmart's email. Use within 28 days of your first qualifying spend, and by Jan 31, 2027
Search engine marketing rebate, Brand Portal brand owners50%, up to $1,000Spend at least $2,000 on SEM
Search engine marketing rebate, other new sellers50%, up to $250Spend at least $500 on eligible SEM campaigns

Walmart decides eligibility and can change the terms. To qualify, sellers must have started selling after Feb 1, 2026. We check your eligibility and help you meet the listing and shipping conditions before your first campaign, so the credit is spent on items that can actually win.

Automatic and manual campaigns

Walmart Sponsored Products runs two campaign types. In an automatic campaign, Walmart chooses where your item shows from its listing content. In a manual (keyword) campaign, you choose the keywords and bids. Both can carry optional bid multipliers by placement, such as the buy box or search results, and by platform: desktop, app and mobile (Walmart Developer documentation, checked Oct 20, 2026).

Our rule of thumb: automatic campaigns find the searches that convert, manual campaigns bid on the proven ones, and multipliers go up only where results by placement show that placement earning its cost. Because automatic campaigns read your listing to decide where you appear, a weak title or missing attributes cost you twice: in conversion and in where Walmart places the ad.

How we run Walmart campaigns each week

The routine mirrors our Amazon work, adjusted for Walmart's rules. It runs on a fixed day each week.

  1. 01Eligibility sweep.

Every advertised item checked for buy box, stock and published status; ads paused on anything that fails and restarted when it recovers.

  2. 02Margin check.

Ad cost per unit sold against each item's contribution per unit before ads. Items that lose money on ad sales for two weeks get a written recommendation.

  3. 03Keywords and negatives.

Search terms that converted moved into manual campaigns; terms that spent without a sale added as negatives, past a threshold you approve.

  4. 04Bids.

Adjusted in small steps, one change at a time per campaign, inside your monthly cap.

  5. 05Weekly report.

Spend against cap, ad sales, ad cost per unit against contribution and the decisions we need from you.

Monthly add-ons follow your plan's notice period. Prices exclude sales tax where it applies. See every term on our pricing page, or compare with Amazon PPC management.

What you approve, and what we never do

You approve the monthly cap, the margin floor for each item and any new campaign type. Inside those rules we change bids, keywords and negatives weekly and report every change.

We never ask for your Seller Center or Ad Center admin login, never change your prices or listings without approval, never charge a percentage of spend and never promise a ROAS, a ranking or a sales figure. Walmart runs the auction. In Seller Center, Admin access includes "signing and accepting binding legal agreements" for your business (Walmart Marketplace Learn, Jul 2, 2025), so Admin stays with you. Our security and access page has the full standard.

Who this is for

  • Brands already selling on Walmart with items that hold the buy box and want ads judged against margin. Brands at $1M+ a year can start with the free Profit Leak Scan.
  • Amazon sellers adding Walmart who want one team running ads on both channels, on the same flat terms.
  • New Walmart sellers who want to use New-Seller Savings credits on the right items.

It is not the right fit if your items rarely win the buy box (fix price and fulfillment first; we can help with that through our Walmart marketplace management plans), if you want display or video production, or if you need a promised return on ad spend.

How much does Walmart advertising management cost?

A flat $299 a month for up to $5,000 in monthly ad spend, or $599 a month for up to $20,000. Above $20,000 we quote in writing first. Store Care Plus at $699 a month includes ad management up to $3,000 in spend. Ad spend is paid by you directly to Walmart, and our fee is never a percentage of it.

Why are my Walmart ads not showing?

Usually because the item lost the buy box, ran out of stock or became unpublished. Walmart only serves Sponsored Products on items that are in stock, winning the buy box and published on Walmart.com. Fix the item first, then the ads restart. Low bids and narrow keywords are the other common causes.

Do I need a trademark to advertise on Walmart?

Not for Sponsored Products. Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Videos need a brand owner based in the US, China, Hong Kong, UK or India, registered with the USPTO and onboarded to Walmart Brand Portal. Brand Portal needs a fully registered trademark; a pending application is not yet eligible.

Is there a minimum budget for Walmart Connect?

Walmart's sponsored search guide does not state a minimum budget. We recommend starting with a daily budget you can afford to learn with, on five to ten items that hold the buy box and have stock to last, then widening only where ad cost per unit stays below contribution per unit.

Can new sellers get Walmart advertising credits?

New sellers who started after Feb 1, 2026 may qualify for a $500 Walmart Connect ad credit under New-Seller Savings, with conditions: an Ad Center account in good standing, an admin user, an item with an Offer Listing Quality score of 80 or higher and an item that ships in 3 days or less or uses WFS. Walmart decides eligibility.

Can you run my Amazon and Walmart ads together?

Yes. The same flat fee terms apply on both channels; ask us to confirm in writing, before work starts, how your combined spend counts toward the $5,000 and $20,000 tiers. The weekly report shows each channel separately, because the rules differ: Amazon needs Featured Offer eligibility, Walmart needs the buy box, and brand ads have different trademark requirements on each.

What is the difference between automatic and manual Walmart campaigns?

In an automatic campaign, Walmart decides where your item appears based on its listing content. In a manual campaign, you choose the keywords and set a bid for each. Both can use bid multipliers by placement and by platform. We run automatic campaigns to find converting searches, then move the proven ones into manual campaigns where the bids are under tighter control.

Are Walmart ads cheaper than Amazon ads?

Not reliably. Walmart publishes no average cost per click, and click costs on both marketplaces move with the category, the season and how many sellers bid on the same terms, so be wary of anyone quoting a single figure. Judge both channels the same way: ad cost per unit sold against contribution per unit, item by item, in the weekly report.

Do you need my Walmart admin login?

No. You keep Admin in Seller Center and in Ad Center, because Admins can accept binding agreements for your business. We work as named users with the access you choose, with multi-factor authentication, and access is removed within 24 hours of a team change or the end of the work.

How do you measure whether Walmart ads are working?

By ad cost per unit sold against each item's contribution per unit before ads, not by clicks or ROAS alone. An ad sale that costs more than the item earns is a loss. We also watch total item sales, so you can see whether ads lift organic sales or just replace them.
