WALMART
Walmart listing optimization service
Our Walmart listing optimization service sets up and improves your Walmart items against the five parts of Walmart's own Listing Quality score, in your Seller Center, with every change approved by you.
Listing creation $79 · Catalog Ready from $750 · Included in Store Care and Ops Desk
Quick answer
Walmart listing optimization means improving each item against the five parts of Walmart's Listing Quality score: content, price competitiveness, shipping speed, published and in stock and ratings and reviews. Ecom Relays does this in your Seller Center: $79 per new listing, a Catalog Ready clean-up from $750 or ongoing work on Store Care and Ops Desk.
How does Walmart score a listing?
Walmart scores each item on five components and averages the item scores into a catalog score. It publishes what each component measures but not how much each one counts.
| Component | What Walmart measures |
|---|---|
| Content quality | How well your item name, description, key features and images perform |
| Price competitiveness | Your price against similar products on external marketplaces |
| Shipping | Your promised delivery speed across ZIP codes |
| Published and in stock | How often the item was available to customers over the last seven days |
| Ratings and reviews | The number of customer reviews and the average rating |

Three details matter. Items over 50 lb or priced at $10 or less are left out of Listing Quality calculations. Any component showing N/A is excluded from the score. And the dashboard sits in Seller Center under Growth, then Listing Quality (seller.walmart.com/growth/listing-quality).
The practical point: content is only one of five parts. A Walmart listing optimization service that only rewrites titles works on a fifth of the score.
What we do to each listing
We work through the whole item, not only the words. Here is the scope.
| Work | What it means |
|---|---|
| Item name and key features | Written to Walmart's style rules: clear, factual, no claims the product cannot support |
| Attributes | Every attribute for the product type filled and correct, because Walmart and its shoppers filter on them |
| Images | Primary and additional images to Walmart's requirements |
| Variant groups | Sizes and colors grouped correctly so they show on one page |
| Product type | Checked, and corrected through Walmart's route for reporting an incorrect product type where needed |
| External price match | Submitted at setup, so Walmart compares you with the right product |
| Shipping promise | Set to what you can actually meet, through WFS or your own fulfillment |
| Content access | Brand owner or authorized reseller registration where it applies, so you can edit the content fields Walmart prioritizes |
You approve every new title, key features list and image set before submission.
Why content alone is not enough
A perfect title on an item priced above Walmart's reference price is still unpublished. Walmart automatically unpublishes offers priced "egregiously higher than prices currently or recently offered", counting shipping as well as item price (Walmart Marketplace Learn, Pricing rules, updated Dec 12, 2025). If Walmart compared you with the wrong product, an external price match fixes the comparison (Walmart Marketplace Learn, updated Feb 23, 2026).
Two programs show how much Walmart cares about these scores:
- Pro Seller
asks for content quality and price competitiveness scores of 75% or above, plus on-time delivery of 95% or above and a shipping speed score of 50% or above, among other criteria (Walmart Pro Seller page, modified Jun 26, 2026).
- New-Seller Savings
ad credits from Walmart Connect need at least one item with a Content Quality score of 80 or greater and one item with fast shipping or WFS, among other conditions (Walmart Marketplace Learn, New-Seller Savings overview, updated Sep 2, 2026).
So we work price and shipping alongside content: price floors and reference price checks on every item, and a shipping promise you can keep. Faster shipping usually means WFS, covered on Walmart WFS management. The full list of unpublish reasons and fixes is in our guide: Walmart item unpublished.
Moving an Amazon or Shopify catalog to Walmart
Map it, do not copy it. Walmart's product types, attributes and style rules differ from Amazon's and from your Shopify product pages. A pasted Amazon listing often lands in the wrong product type, misses required attributes and scores poorly on content from day one.
What a clean move looks like:
- 01Check identifiers first.
Walmart asks for GTINs or UPCs with a GS1 company prefix (Walmart Marketplace seller requirements, checked Oct 20, 2026).
- 02Map product types and attributes
from your source catalog to Walmart's, item by item for your top sellers and by rule for the rest.
- 03Rewrite names and key features
to Walmart's style, keeping claims consistent across channels.
- 04Load in bulk
through Walmart's bulk tools or your feed software, then check every error.
- 05Set prices with Walmart's pricing rules in mind
, so a promotion on Amazon or Shopify does not unpublish the same item on Walmart.
If you are listing on Amazon too, our Amazon listing and catalog management work uses the same catalog data, so one change does not mean two different stories.
Getting found by Sparky, Walmart's AI shopping assistant
Sparky is Walmart's generative AI shopping assistant, opened from the "Ask Sparky" button in the Walmart app. Walmart says it summarizes product reviews and helps customers compare items and make choices (Walmart, Jun 6, 2025). Walmart has not published how Sparky chooses products or which item data it reads, so we make no claims about ranking. What we control is the item itself: complete attributes, plain and factual key features, and reviews and ratings that reflect a product as described. Those help search and an assistant alike.
A listing before and after
Here is the kind of change we make, on a sample item.
Sample item (Illustrative · sample listing)
| Before | After | |
|---|---|---|
| Item name | Insulated Bottle Stainless Steel 32oz Keeps Cold Hot Gym Hiking Camping Office Travel Gift | Acme Insulated Water Bottle, Stainless Steel, 32 oz |
| Key features | One paragraph of marketing copy | Five short, factual lines: capacity, materials, insulation hours, lid type, care |
| Attributes | 6 of 18 filled | 18 of 18 filled |
| Price check | Item price plus shipping above the reference price | Floor set; price inside the rule; external price match submitted |
| Shipping | 5 to 7 day promise | 2 day promise through WFS |
We do not promise a score or a ranking. We fix what Walmart scores and report the change in your weekly review.

How much does Walmart listing optimization cost?
New listings are $79 each. A full Catalog Ready clean-up starts at $750 as a one-time build. Ongoing listing work is included in Store Care from $399 a month and Ops Desk from $1,499 a month. Extra work such as rich media is $75 an hour, quoted in writing first. None of it is a percentage of your sales.
What is a good Walmart Listing Quality score?
Walmart does not publish a target score. Its Pro Seller program is the clearest benchmark: it asks for content quality and price competitiveness scores of 75% or above. For New-Seller Savings ad credits, Walmart asks for at least one item with a Content Quality score of 80 or greater. Aim higher on your top sellers.
Can you promise my items will rank higher?
No. Walmart decides search placement, and it does not publish how its components are weighted. What we can do is fix everything Walmart scores, including content, price and shipping promise, and report the change in your Listing Quality dashboard over time.
Can you edit content if I am not the brand owner?
Only where Walmart allows. Walmart prioritizes content from brand owners and authorized sources, so a reseller may not be able to change some fields. Registering as the brand owner or an authorized reseller, where you qualify, gives you that access. We check what applies to your items first.
Do you copy my Amazon listings to Walmart?
No. We map them to Walmart's product types, attributes and style rules instead. A copied Amazon listing often lands in the wrong product type and misses required attributes. Mapping takes longer up front and saves weeks of errors and low content scores later.
Do you build Walmart rich media?
It is quoted in writing as extra work at $75 an hour. Complete attributes, factual key features and compliant images come first, because those feed the content quality score on every item. Rich media helps most on your top sellers once the basics are in place.
How long until changes show?
Walmart reviews new and updated items before they publish; Sellbrite quotes Walmart's review as taking up to 31 hours. The published and in stock component looks at the last seven days, so stock fixes take about a week to show fully in the score.
Do you need Admin access to Seller Center?
No. Read and Write for named users is enough for listing work, and Admin stays with you, because Walmart Admins can accept binding legal agreements for your company. We never ask for your password.
