PROFIT AND CASH PULSE · MARGIN GUARD · LANDED COST DESK

Ecommerce profit dashboard service: margin, cash and landed cost by SKU

Three modules that show what each SKU earns after every fee, where your cash is and what freight and tariffs do to your costs, built in your own accounts.

Each module $1,500 to $3,500 · Profit and Cash Pulse included in every Ops Desk plan

Quick answer

An ecommerce profit dashboard service builds and keeps a daily view of margin and cash from your channel, 3PL and payout data. Ecom Relays builds three modules in your own accounts, Profit and Cash Pulse, Margin Guard and Landed Cost Desk, for Amazon, Walmart and Shopify, at $1,500 to $3,500 each or inside Ops Desk.

What each module shows

Each module answers one question an owner asks every week. You can buy one, two or all three.

ModuleThe question it answersWhat it shows
Profit and Cash Pulse (RELAY-01)"What did we actually make, and where is the cash?"Contribution margin by SKU and channel, payouts held and when they land, cash tied up in stock, a 13-week cash forecast
Margin Guard (RELAY-02)"Which SKUs are selling below margin?"Every fee, ad cost, shipping and landed cost per SKU; alerts and suggested pricing rules when a SKU falls below its floor
Landed Cost Desk (RELAY-04)"What does this unit really cost us now?"Landed cost per SKU under current tariff rules, price scenarios, paperwork ready for your customs broker

The dashboard refreshes daily. Every figure names its source report and period, and the margin view reconciles to your payout reports.

Why revenue and payouts do not tell you profit

Revenue counts what customers paid; profit is what is left after the platform, the warehouse, the ad account and the supplier have each taken theirs. On Amazon, that share is large. Marketplace Pulse estimated that referral, FBA and advertising fees together can take more than 50% of a seller's revenue (Marketplace Pulse, Feb 13, 2023).

Payouts muddy it further. Since Mar 12, 2026, Amazon in the US has held seller funds until seven days after delivery, known as DD+7 (Amazon's notice, as quoted by sellers; SPS Commerce, Apr 17, 2026). Payout timing splits revenue and costs across months, so a payout is not a month's profit, and a strong sales week can still leave the bank balance lower.

A report that stops at revenue and ROAS cannot show any of this. Ours shows margin per SKU after every fee, with the period and source on every number. If your revenue keeps climbing while margin stays flat, revenue up, margin down covers the usual causes.

How we calculate contribution margin per unit

Contribution margin per unit is the price minus every cost that moves with each sale. We calculate it per SKU and per channel, because the same product earns different margins on Amazon, Walmart and Shopify.

Contribution margin = price minus referral fee minus fulfillment fee minus storage minus payment processing minus returns cost minus ad cost per unit minus shipping minus landed cost

Worked example, one unit sold through Amazon FBA (Illustrative · sample figures):

LineAmountSource report
Price$29.99Orders report
Referral fee-$4.50Settlement report
FBA fulfillment fee-$5.10Settlement report
Storage, per unit-$0.35Storage fee report, spread over units sold
Returns allowance-$0.60Returns report, by SKU
Ad cost per unit-$3.20Advertising reports, spend ÷ units sold
Landed cost-$7.40Supplier invoice, freight and duty bills
Contribution margin$8.84 (29.5%)

On Amazon the referral fee includes payment processing; on Shopify it is a separate card fee, and on Walmart the referral fee is set by category (Walmart referral fee schedule). Run your own products through the fee calculator for Amazon, Walmart and Shopify, and see what changed in FBA fees in 2026.

The 13-week cash forecast

A 13-week forecast shows, week by week, whether the cash will be there when the next purchase order, freight bill or duty payment is due. It is built from dated inflows and outflows, not from a monthly average.

What goes in:

  • Payouts by their expected date on each channel, including funds held.
  • Purchase order deposits and balances, by due date.
  • Freight, duties and customs brokerage.
  • Ad spend, platform fees and 3PL invoices.
  • Anything else you tell us about: loan repayments, payroll, tax.

Lowest point: week 8, when the purchase order balance, freight and duties land in the same week. Seeing that 8 weeks ahead is the difference between moving a payment date and scrambling for credit. The cash conversion cycle calculator shows how long your cash is tied up between paying a supplier and getting paid.

Landed cost when tariffs and freight move

Landed cost is what a unit costs you once it is sitting in the warehouse, ready to sell. When any input moves, every SKU that uses it needs re-costing.

Landed cost = product cost + freight + duties + customs brokerage + inbound to the warehouse

Landed Cost Desk re-costs every affected SKU when an input changes, and shows price scenarios: what the margin is at today's price, and what price restores your floor. It keeps the paperwork your customs broker asks for in one place. We do not give customs, tax or legal advice; classification and duty rates stay with your broker. Until supplier, freight and duty bills arrive, we use an estimate and mark it as an estimate.

Software subscription or a service we build?

If one app already gives you the truth across every channel, keep it. We build when it does not.

Subscription profit apps are usually built for one platform. One Shopify App Store listing, for example, charges $179 a month up to $1M of revenue and $299 a month up to $5M, and is built for direct-to-consumer stores (StoreHero listing, checked Oct 20, 2026). Amazon analytics tools start from Amazon data. Our modules are built once in your own tools across Amazon, Walmart, Shopify and your 3PL, with Module Care included on any monthly plan. You subscribe to any tool they need, in your name; we do not resell licenses.

How much does a profit dashboard service cost?

Each module costs $1,500 to $3,500 to build, with the exact price fixed in writing before the build. Profit and Cash Pulse is included in every Ops Desk plan.

OptionPriceNotes
Profit and Cash Pulse$1,500 to $3,500 one-timeIncluded in every Ops Desk plan
Margin Guard$1,500 to $3,500 one-timeIncluded from Ops Desk Growth ($2,499 a month)
Landed Cost Desk$1,500 to $3,500 one-time

14-Day Ops Foundation$1,500 one channel, $2,500 multichannelIncludes a live profit dashboard as one of six deliverables

Each build takes 1 to 4 weeks, billed 50% at the start and 50% at acceptance, with fixes free for 60 days after acceptance. These fees are fixed and published, never a percentage of your sales or ad spend. Prices exclude sales tax where it applies. Every price is on Pricing; all ten modules are on Relay Modules.

Founding offer: 20% off module builds, for our first 25 clients or until Jan 31, 2027, whichever comes first.

Who this is for

It is for brands at $1M or more a year that sell on more than one channel or carry significant stock, where margin and cash are hard to see from any one screen.

It is not a bookkeeping, tax filing or audited accounts service. We work alongside your bookkeeper and send clean, reconciled operations data; tax and accounting stay with them. Stock-side reporting, such as days of cover and aged inventory, sits with inventory and 3PL management.

How much does a profit dashboard service cost?

Each module costs $1,500 to $3,500 to build, fixed in writing before we start, with 60 days of free fixes after acceptance. Profit and Cash Pulse is included in every Ops Desk plan, and Margin Guard from Ops Desk Growth. Upkeep is included on any monthly plan, or 10% of the build cost a year.

Is this software we subscribe to?

No. We build the modules in tools you own and subscribe to, and document them in your workspace. If a tool is missing, we recommend options and you subscribe in your own name. We do not resell licenses or put your data in a platform we own.

Does it cover Walmart?

Yes. Amazon, Walmart, Shopify and your 3PL appear in one view, with margin shown per SKU and per channel. Walmart's referral fee varies by category and WFS fees by size and weight, so each Walmart SKU carries its own fee lines.

How often does it update?

Daily. Each morning the dashboard pulls the previous day's orders, fees, ad spend and payout data. The 13-week cash forecast is reviewed weekly, when purchase orders, freight bills and payout dates are rechecked. Every figure shows the period it covers, so a late report is visible rather than hidden.

Will it replace our bookkeeper?

No. It gives you and your bookkeeper the same clean, reconciled operations data: margin by SKU, fees by type and payouts by date. Tax, accounting and your books stay with your bookkeeper or accountant. If they want the data mapped to their chart of accounts, we set that up with them.

How do you get landed cost right?

From your supplier invoices and your freight, duty and brokerage bills, allocated to each SKU. Until those bills arrive, we use an estimate and mark it as an estimate, then replace it with the real figure. Classification and duty rates stay with your customs broker.

Can it alert us when a SKU loses money?

Yes. Margin Guard alerts when a SKU drops below the margin floor you set, names the cost that moved and suggests a pricing rule for your approval. No price changes without your approval or a rule you have approved in writing.

What do we need to provide?

Read access to each channel, your 3PL portal and your payout reports, plus product costs per SKU. If product costs are missing, we can start with estimates marked as estimates. Twelve months of history, where you have it, gives the margin trend and the forecast a fair base. Access is through named users, never your owner password.
