Fulfillment fees by weight
WFS charges a fulfillment fee for every unit it ships, based on the unit's shipping weight. Here is the full standard schedule.
| Shipping weight | Fulfillment fee per unit |
|---|---|
| Up to 1 lb | $3.45 |
| 2 lb | $4.95 |
| 3 lb | $5.45 |
| 4 to 20 lb | $5.75 plus $0.40 for each lb over 4 |
| 21 to 30 lb | $15.55 plus $0.40 for each lb over 21 |
| 31 to 50 lb | $14.55 plus $0.40 for each lb over 31 |
| 51 lb and over | $17.55 plus $0.40 for each lb over 51 |
Standard surcharges are added to the base fee for each unit. They do not apply to big and bulky items:
| Surcharge | Amount |
|---|---|
| Apparel | $0.50 |
| Hazardous materials | $0.50 |
| Retail price under $10 | $1.00 |
| Oversize 1 | $3.00 |
| Oversize 2 | $20.00, with weight priced from the 90 lb rate |
Big and bulky items up to 500 lb pay $155 plus $0.80 for each lb over 90, with no other fulfillment fees.
Illustrative · sample figures.
| Item | Shipping weight | Base fee | Surcharges | Fulfillment fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Phone accessory priced $8.99 | Under 1 lb | $3.45 | Under $10: $1.00 | $4.45 |
| Cotton t-shirt priced $19.99 | Under 1 lb | $3.45 | Apparel: $0.50 | $3.95 |
| Kitchen appliance priced $59.99 | 9 lb | $5.75 + 5 × $0.40 = $7.75 | None | $7.75 |
Rates are Walmart's; the items are examples. The under-$10 surcharge is worth noticing: on a low-price item, $1 can be a large share of margin.
Storage fees, including the October to December surcharge
WFS storage is $0.75 per cubic foot a month all year for items stored up to 365 days. From October to December, items stored more than 30 days pay an extra $1.50 per cubic foot a month, so $2.25 in total. Items stored 30 days or less in those months pay only $0.75.
That rule rewards one habit: bring holiday stock in close to when it will sell, and move slow stock out before October.
Illustrative · sample figures. 50 cubic feet of stock in November:
| Stock | Days in WFS | Rate | Monthly storage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Holiday stock received in late October | 20 days | $0.75 | $37.50 |
| Slow stock received in June | 150 days | $0.75 + $1.50 = $2.25 | $112.50 |
Same space, three times the cost, because of when it arrived.
Long-term storage from Jun 30, 2026
From Jun 30, 2026, Walmart lists long-term storage rates for units stored more than 365 days: $2.25 per cubic foot a month from 366 to 450 days, and $7.50 per cubic foot a month after 450 days. The fee page does not say whether the standard $0.75 also applies on top. The examples below treat the long-term rate as the whole storage charge; check the storage line on your first long-term bill.
Illustrative · sample figures. One cubic foot of stock, outside October to December:
| Age | Rate per cubic foot a month | Cost for that cubic foot each month |
|---|---|---|
| 300 days | $0.75 | $0.75 |
| 380 days | $2.25 | $2.25 |
| 460 days | $7.50 | $7.50 |
On 100 cubic feet that is $75, $225 and $750 a month. A shelf of slow stock that costs little at day 300 costs ten times as much after day 450. The decision point is around day 300: sell through with a price plan, move units to your own 3PL or remove them. Estimate your own exposure with our WFS storage fee calculator.
How to work out cubic feet
Multiply length × width × height in inches, then divide by 1,728, the number of cubic inches in a cubic foot.
Illustrative · sample figures. A packed unit measuring 12 × 8 × 6 inches is 576 cubic inches, or 576 ÷ 1,728 = 0.33 cubic feet. 300 units take about 100 cubic feet. At $0.75 that is $75 a month in storage from January to September.
Measure the packed unit, not the product. Extra packaging adds cubic feet to every unit for as long as it sits in WFS.
Return processing fees, and when Walmart waives them
WFS charges a return processing fee per returned unit, by weight. It is waived for returns identified as Walmart at fault.
| Shipping weight | Return processing fee |
|---|---|
| Up to 1 lb | $4.70 |
| 2 lb | $6.20 |
| 3 lb | $6.70 |
| 4 to 20 lb | $7.00 plus $0.40 for each lb over 4 |
| 21 to 30 lb | $15.55 plus $0.40 for each lb over 21 |
| 31 to 50 lb | $14.55 plus $0.40 for each lb over 31 |
| 51 lb and over | $17.55 plus $0.40 for each lb over 51 |
| Big and bulky, up to 500 lb | $155 plus $0.80 for each lb over 90 |
Source: Walmart WFS fees, updated May 27, 2026. A high return rate costs twice: in the fee itself, and in Walmart's 6% return rate standard. Fix listing accuracy and packaging on any SKU whose returns run high.
Prep chargebacks, removal and disposal
Unplanned prep.
If units arrive without a required label or poly bag, Walmart charges $0.65 a unit for a missing or incorrect label and $0.80 a unit for a missing or incorrect poly bag. Planned prep services cost less, according to Walmart, but the schedule does not list the rate. On a 1,000-unit shipment, one missed step costs $650 to $800.
Disposal.
$0.35 a unit up to 2 lb; $0.35 plus $0.20 for each lb over 2 for heavier units. Hazmat items add $0.50.
Removal.
The disposal fee plus $0.40 a lb in shipping, to get units back to you.
Illustrative · sample figures.
Removing 200 units of a 1 lb item: disposal fee $0.35 plus shipping $0.40 = $0.75 a unit, or $150. If those units would otherwise sit past day 450, removal pays for itself quickly.
The full WFS cost of one unit, worked through
Fulfillment is only one line. Here is every WFS charge one unit can carry over its life, on a sample item.
Illustrative · sample figures. A kitchen tool priced $24.99, packed at 1.4 lb and 0.25 cubic feet. It sells through in about 90 days, so each unit sits in WFS for an average of 45 days, outside October to December.
| Line | Amount per unit | Where the number comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Referral fee at 15% | $3.75 | Walmart referral fee schedule (Everything Else category), Mar 9, 2026 |
| Fulfillment, 2 lb tier | $4.95 | WFS fees, May 27, 2026 |
| Storage: 0.25 cubic feet × $0.75 × 1.5 months | $0.28 | WFS fees, May 27, 2026 |
| Returns: 5% of units returned at $6.20 | $0.31 | WFS fees; return rate is a sample |
| Total Walmart fees per unit sold | $9.29 |
Now change one thing. If the same unit sits for 400 days instead of 45, storage alone becomes 0.25 × $0.75 × 12 months plus 0.25 × $2.25 for about one month in the long-term band, roughly $2.81 a unit. That is ten times the storage line above, before any October to December surcharge. The fulfillment fee rarely decides whether a SKU works on WFS. How long the stock sits usually does.
Fees you do not pay
Walmart's WFS page says there are no signup or monthly subscription fees, and no minimum or maximum inventory requirement. Walmart Marketplace itself charges no setup, monthly or hidden fees (Walmart Marketplace, checked Oct 20, 2026). You pay a referral fee on each sale, which is separate from WFS: 15% for the Everything Else category, with each category having its own rate (Walmart referral fee schedule, Mar 9, 2026). Walmart's summary puts referral fees at 6% to 15% by category and total sales price.
Inventory Transfer Services are available "for an additional fee", which the schedule does not list. Check Seller Center if you plan to use them.
New-Seller Savings: 10% off WFS fulfillment fees
Walmart's New-Seller Savings program includes 10% off WFS fulfillment fees until you reach $2K in savings, redeemed as reimbursements. It is part of up to $75K in incentives and benefits. The program runs Feb 2, 2026 to Jan 31, 2027, sellers must go live after Feb 1, 2026 and conditions apply (Walmart Marketplace Learn, New-Seller Savings overview, updated Sep 2, 2026). Walmart decides eligibility.
Illustrative · sample figures. At $3.45 a unit, 10% off saves about $0.35 a unit. You would reach the $2K cap after roughly 5,800 units at that fee.

How to keep WFS costs down
Six habits keep most WFS bills in check.
- 01Prep before you ship.
Labels and poly bags right on every unit avoid $0.65 and $0.80 chargebacks.
- 02Size inbounds to sales.
Send what will sell in 60 to 90 days, not a year's supply.
- 03Watch cover in days per SKU
every week, so slow sellers do not pile up.
- 04Review aged stock monthly
, and act around day 300, well before the day 366 step.
- 05Plan peak inbounds for October
, close to demand, so holiday stock pays $0.75 rather than $2.25.
- 06Claim what WFS loses.
Receiving shortage claims open between 10 and 50 days after delivery, with proof of delivery or signed bills of lading, and Walmart accepts no appeals (Walmart Marketplace Learn, updated Aug 6, 2026).

What are the WFS storage fees?
$0.75 per cubic foot a month for items stored up to 365 days. From October to December, items stored more than 30 days pay an extra $1.50 per cubic foot a month. After 365 days, Walmart lists long-term storage rates: $2.25 per cubic foot a month to day 450, then $7.50.
What is the WFS long-term storage fee?
From Jun 30, 2026, Walmart charges $2.25 per cubic foot a month for units stored 366 to 450 days and $7.50 per cubic foot a month for units stored more than 450 days. That is three times and ten times the standard Jan to Sep rate.
Does WFS charge a monthly fee?
No. Walmart's WFS fee page says there are no signup or monthly subscription fees and no minimum or maximum inventory. You pay per unit fulfilled, per cubic foot stored and for specific services such as returns, removal, disposal and unplanned prep.
What is the WFS return processing fee?
$4.70 a unit for a standard item up to 1 lb, rising with weight: $6.20 at 2 lb, $6.70 at 3 lb and $7.00 plus $0.40 a lb from 4 to 20 lb. Walmart waives the fee for returns identified as Walmart at fault.
How do I calculate cubic feet for WFS storage?
Multiply the packed unit's length, width and height in inches, then divide by 1,728. A 12 × 8 × 6 inch box is 576 cubic inches, or 0.33 cubic feet. Multiply by your units on hand and the monthly rate to estimate storage.
What happens if my WFS shipment is missing labels?
Walmart charges an unplanned prep chargeback: $0.65 a unit for a missing or incorrect label and $0.80 a unit for a missing or incorrect poly bag. Check prep before units leave your warehouse, because the charge applies to every affected unit in the shipment.
Can I get a discount on WFS fees as a new seller?
Walmart's New-Seller Savings program includes 10% off WFS fulfillment fees until you reach $2K in savings, for sellers who go live after Feb 1, 2026, until Jan 31, 2027. Conditions apply and Walmart decides eligibility.
