Walmart seller performance standards: the 2026 thresholds and what to do
This guide puts all eight in one table, explains how each is measured and what usually breaks it, and covers what happens when you miss one. If you want a team to watch them every business day, see our Walmart account health management service.

Quick answer
Walmart's seller performance standards are eight metrics every seller must meet, as of Walmart's update on Jul 28, 2026: cancellation rate 2% or below, on-time delivery 90% or above, valid tracking 99% or above, seller response 95% or above within 48 hours, negative feedback 2% or below, return rate 6% or below (9% for resold items), item not received 2% or below and late shipment 5% or below.
Key takeaways
- There are eight standards, not five. Any shorter list you see elsewhere is a subset.
- Walmart evaluates them over the last 30 or 60 days; three metrics name a 60-day window explicitly.
- If you use WFS, Walmart says most metrics are met for you, except the negative feedback rate.
- Failing to act on a missed standard may lead to suppression, suspension or termination.
- Pro Seller status asks for more: 95% on-time delivery, 1.5% cancellations and 75% content and price scores, among others.
The eight Walmart seller performance standards at a glance
Here is every standard with its threshold, window, Walmart's definition, the usual cause of trouble and the first fix.
| Metric | Threshold | Window | How Walmart defines it | What usually breaks it | First fix |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cancellation rate | 2% or below | 30 or 60 days | Share of orders you cancel after Walmart sends them | Stock sold twice across channels | One stock count across every channel |
| On-time delivery rate | 90% or above | 30 or 60 days | Share of orders delivered by the expected delivery date | Ship times set too fast; slow carrier service | Set ship and transit times you can meet |
| Valid tracking rate | 99% or above | 30 or 60 days | Share of orders with valid tracking information | Tracking not uploaded, or uploaded wrong | Confirm tracking on every order the same day |
| Seller response rate | 95% or above | 30 or 60 days | Share of customer inquiries answered within 48 hours | Nobody owns the inbox over weekends | Answer every business day; cover weekends |
| Negative feedback rate | 2% or below | Orders sold in the past 60 days | Share of orders rated one or two stars | Listing that oversells; poor packaging | Read every low rating and fix the cause |
| Return rate | 6% or below (9% for resold items) | Orders delivered in the past 60 days | Share of delivered orders returned by the customer | Inaccurate listing; damage in transit | Fix listing accuracy and packaging by SKU |
| Item not received rate | 2% or below | Orders with expected delivery in the past 60 days | Share of orders not delivered to the customer | Lost parcels; wrong addresses | Chase stuck shipments early |
| Late shipment rate | 5% or below | 30 or 60 days | Share of orders shipped after the expected ship date | Orders arriving after warehouse cut-off | Align handling time with your real cut-off |
Source: Walmart Marketplace Learn, Seller performance standards, updated Jul 28, 2026. Walmart says standards are evaluated over the last 30 or 60 days and names the 60-day window for three metrics; it does not say which window applies to the rest.
How each metric is measured
Each standard has its own trap. Here is what to watch on each.
Cancellation rate: 2% or below
Walmart counts orders you cancel after Walmart has sent them to you. The usual cause is stock: a unit sells on Amazon or Shopify and is still shown as available on Walmart. A single oversell weekend can push a small store over 2%. The fix is one stock count across every channel and your 3PL, updated often enough that a sale on one channel reaches the others before the next order lands. See multichannel inventory and 3PL management.
On-time delivery rate: 90% or above
Orders must arrive by the expected delivery date Walmart showed the customer. That date comes from your handling time and shipping settings, so a promise set too fast is the most common cause. Review late orders by carrier and service each week, and slow the promise on routes that keep failing.
Valid tracking rate: 99% or above
Nearly every seller-fulfilled order needs valid tracking. At 99%, one missing number in a hundred orders is the limit. Problems usually come from a shipping app that fails silently, a label printed and never scanned or a carrier Walmart does not recognize. Check tracking on every order the same day it ships.
Seller response rate: 95% or above within 48 hours
Customer inquiries must be answered within 48 hours, and 95% or more must meet that clock. The 48 hours keep running over a weekend. Stores without weekend cover are the ones that miss it. Use templates for common questions, and give someone ownership of the inbox every day.
Negative feedback rate: 2% or below
Walmart counts orders rated one or two stars, over orders sold in the past 60 days. This is the one metric WFS does not cover for you. Read every low rating. The cause is usually a listing that promises more than the product, packaging that fails in transit or a delivery that ran late.
Return rate: 6% or below, 9% for resold items
Walmart counts delivered orders that customers return, over orders delivered in the past 60 days. Resold inventory gets a higher 9% limit. Report return reasons by SKU monthly. "Not as described" points at the listing; "damaged" points at packaging.
Item not received rate: 2% or below
Orders with an expected delivery date in the past 60 days that never reached the customer. Lost parcels and wrong addresses drive it. Watch tracking for shipments that stall, and contact the carrier before the customer contacts Walmart.
Late shipment rate: 5% or below
Orders shipped after the expected ship date. The usual cause is a handling time that ignores your warehouse's daily cut-off: an order placed at 4pm with a same-day promise and a 2pm pick cut-off ships late every time. Set handling time to match reality.
What WFS covers and what it does not
Walmart says that if you use Walmart Fulfillment Services, most performance metrics will be met for you, with the exception of the negative feedback rate (Walmart Marketplace Learn, updated Jul 28, 2026).
In practice, WFS takes over shipping-driven metrics on WFS orders: on-time delivery, tracking and late shipment. Your seller-fulfilled orders still count fully. And negative feedback stays with you on every order, because it reflects the product and the listing as much as the delivery. Stores that use WFS for some items and ship others themselves need daily checks on the seller-fulfilled side. More on running WFS: Walmart WFS management.
What happens when you miss a standard
Walmart notifies you by email and in Seller Center with recommendations. Sellers cannot unsubscribe from these notices. Walmart expects immediate action; failing to act may lead to suppression, suspension or termination (Walmart Marketplace Learn, Seller performance standards, updated Jul 28, 2026).
The four account actions, in order of severity:
| Action | Listings | Seller Center and payments |
|---|---|---|
| Suppression | Seller-fulfilled listings non-transactable; WFS listings stay on Walmart.com | Not stated |
| Pause | Seller-fulfilled and WFS listings non-transactable | Not stated |
| Suspension | All listings non-transactable and non-discoverable | Seller Center access restricted; payments on hold |
| Termination | All listings removed; selling privileges and Seller Center access permanently revoked | Payments on hold |
Source: Walmart Marketplace Learn, Seller suspension and termination, updated Oct 2, 2026. Walmart says it may terminate accounts that stay suspended beyond a reasonable threshold.
If your whole catalog vanished overnight, the cause may be one of these actions rather than an item problem. Our guide on Walmart item unpublished covers how to tell the difference.
Pro Seller: the higher bar
The standards keep your account open. Pro Seller rewards sellers who go further, in three tiers.
| Metric | Rising | Advanced | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| On-time delivery rate | 90% or higher | 92.5% or higher | 95% or higher |
| Cancellation rate | 2.5% or lower | 2.0% or lower | 1.5% or lower |
| Seller responsiveness rate | 90% or higher | 92.5% or higher | 95% or higher |
| Shipping speed score | 5% or higher | 25% or higher | 50% or higher |
| Content quality score | 65% or higher | 70% or higher | 75% or higher |
| Price competitiveness score | 65% or higher | 70% or higher | 75% or higher |
Source: Walmart Pro Seller page, modified Jun 26, 2026.
Advanced also requires more than 100 orders in the past 90 days, at least 90 active days and compliance with all Marketplace policies. The benefits include a Pro Seller badge for Pro sellers and referral fee discounts on qualified listings: 5% for Advanced and 10% for Pro. Walmart notes it may verify, recalculate or reassess benefits at its discretion, and it says WFS can help meet the delivery-related requirements.
Note the Rising tier's 2.5% cancellation threshold. It is looser than the 2% performance standard, so meeting Rising does not mean you meet the standard. Plan to the stricter number.
A daily and weekly monitoring routine
Ten minutes a day and thirty a week keep most stores well inside the standards.
Every business day
- Open the performance dashboard in Seller Center and note each metric.
- Check open customer messages and their age; answer anything over 24 hours old first.
- Confirm tracking on every seller-fulfilled order shipped yesterday.
- List orders past their expected ship date that have not shipped.
- Read new one- and two-star ratings.
- Check for any new performance notice in Seller Center or email.
Every week
- Review late deliveries by carrier and service; adjust promises where one keeps failing.
- Review cancellations and their causes; check stock sync across channels.
- Review return reasons by SKU.
- Compare each metric with the Pro Seller tier you are aiming for.
- Log the numbers and any actions, dated, in one place.

How to appeal a suspension
Act in the first 48 hours, and fix the cause before you write anything.
- 01Read the notice
and note the action, the standard or policy named and any deadline.
- 02Stop the cause.
Pause a broken feed, fix stock sync or correct shipping templates.
- 03Collect evidence.
Order data, carrier records, tracking uploads and anything that shows the problem and the fix.
- 04Write a plan of action:
what went wrong, what you have fixed and what stops it recurring.
- 05Appeal through Walmart's route
if your case is eligible, with the plan and evidence attached.
- 06Keep daily checks running
while Walmart reviews, so nothing new lands.
Walmart decides every appeal, and nobody can promise reinstatement. If you want help, we prepare appeals for $750 per case, or $500 on a monthly plan: see Walmart account health management.
Walmart vs Amazon account health metrics
Sellers on both marketplaces often mix up the numbers. Here they are side by side.
| Area | Walmart standard | Amazon target |
|---|---|---|
| Defects | Negative feedback 2% or below; item not received 2% or below | Order defect rate under 1% (negative feedback, A-to-z claims and chargebacks combined) |
| Cancellations | 2% or below | Cancellation rate below 2.5% (seller-fulfilled) |
| Late shipment | 5% or below | Ideally under 4% (seller-fulfilled) |
| Tracking | Valid tracking 99% or above | Valid tracking rate named, no number on Amazon's public page |
| On-time delivery | 90% or above | Named, no number on Amazon's public page |
| Customer response | 95% within 48 hours | Not part of the published targets |
| Returns | 6% or below (9% resold) | Not part of the published targets |
Sources: Walmart Marketplace Learn, updated Jul 28, 2026; Sell on Amazon, Selling policies, Oct 16, 2024.
Two differences matter most. Walmart is stricter on cancellations, at 2% against Amazon's 2.5%. And Walmart scores response time and returns as standards, which Amazon does not publish as targets. What are Walmart's seller performance standards in 2026?
Eight metrics, updated Jul 28, 2026: cancellation rate 2% or below, on-time delivery 90% or above, valid tracking 99% or above, seller response 95% or above within 48 hours, negative feedback 2% or below, return rate 6% or below (9% for resold items), item not received 2% or below and late shipment 5% or below.
What is Walmart's on-time delivery rate requirement?
90% or above: at least nine in ten orders must arrive by the expected delivery date Walmart showed the customer. Pro Seller asks for more, 95% or above at the Pro tier. If you use WFS, Walmart says this metric is met for you on WFS orders.
What is the Walmart negative feedback rate limit?
2% or below, measured on orders sold in the past 60 days. Walmart counts orders rated one or two stars. It is the one standard WFS does not cover, so even WFS-only sellers need to read low ratings and fix the listing, packaging or product behind them.
How long is the measurement window?
Walmart evaluates the standards over the last 30 or 60 days. It names a 60-day window for three metrics: negative feedback (orders sold), return rate (orders delivered) and item not received (orders with expected delivery). It does not say which window applies to the other five, so watch both views in Seller Center.
What happens if I miss a Walmart performance standard?
Walmart notifies you by email and in Seller Center with recommendations, and you cannot unsubscribe from these notices. You are expected to act at once. Walmart says failing to act may lead to suppression, suspension or termination of your account.
Does WFS cover the performance standards?
Mostly. Walmart says that if you use WFS, most performance metrics will be met for you, except the negative feedback rate. Seller-fulfilled orders still count fully, so stores that ship some orders themselves need daily checks on that side.
What are the Walmart Pro Seller requirements?
For the Pro tier: on-time delivery 95% or above, cancellations 1.5% or below, responsiveness 95% or above, a shipping speed score of 50% or above and content quality and price competitiveness scores of 75% or above. The Advanced tier also needs more than 100 orders in 90 days and 90 active days.
Can my Walmart account be suspended for performance?
Yes. Walmart says failing to act on missed standards may lead to suppression, suspension or termination. A suspension makes all listings non-transactable, restricts Seller Center access and holds payments. Walmart may terminate accounts that stay suspended beyond a reasonable threshold, so fix the cause and appeal promptly if eligible.
