Editorial policy: how we research, review and date our content
Last reviewed Oct 20, 2026
This editorial policy explains how we research, write, review, date and correct the guides, tools and videos on ecomrelays.com. The short version: platform sources first, a named author and a named reviewer, a real date on every check and no invented people or proof.

- Where our facts come from
We rank sources in this order and use the highest one available.
- 01The platform's own pages.
Amazon Seller Central help and announcements, Walmart Marketplace Learn and Seller Center help, the Shopify Help Center and pricing pages.
- 02Government data.
For example the US Census Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the USPTO and the FTC.
- 03Independent analysts and trade press,
named with the date.
- 04Vendor figures,
only when nothing better exists, labeled "vendor estimate" with the vendor's name.
Every number shows its source and the date we checked it. If we cannot verify a fact, we leave it out.
- Who writes and reviews
Every guide has a named author and a named operator reviewer, each with a team page that shows their role and experience. The reviewer checks every platform rule, fee and threshold against the platform's own page on the review date, and their name and that date appear on the guide.
We never publish under a pseudonym, and we never present a fictional person as a member of our team.
- Dates and review cycles
Every guide shows "Published" and "Last reviewed". The reviewed date changes only after a real check, never to make a page look fresh.
| Content | How often we review it |
|---|---|
| Fee guides | Monthly, and whenever a platform announces a fee change |
| Policy and how-to guides | Quarterly |
| The seller rule tracker | Monthly |
| Prices and terms on our own pages | Whenever they change, with the date shown |
- Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Each guide has a dated corrections log at the foot that records what changed and why.
To report an error, email contact@ecomrelays.com with "Correction" in the subject, or use our contact page. A real person replies within one business hour, 9am to 6pm US Central, Monday to Friday.
- How we use AI
AI tools help us with research and first drafts. A named person checks every fact, number and source against the original and approves the final text before it is published.
We never publish AI-generated reviews or testimonials, and we never present AI-generated people as real clients or staff.
- Videos, voices and characters
Some of our education videos use AI-generated voices, and the 2026 Education Campaign uses fictional characters. Every page that embeds them says so in a label next to the video: "Characters are fictional. Voices are AI-generated." Videos in our explainer series, which have no characters, carry "Voices are AI-generated." Characters are never presented as our staff or our clients.
Videos with a real presenter show the presenter's confirmed role, and are published only with that person's written consent.
- Sample figures
Dashboards, sample reports and worked examples that are not a real client's data are labeled "Illustrative · sample figures". Sample reports carry a watermark saying they are not a client.
- Independence
We accept no paid placements. Any comparison or buyer's guide that includes Ecom Relays says so at the top and explains how we compared the options. We use no affiliate links today; if that ever changes, the disclosure will sit next to the link. Our full disclosures are on a separate page.
- Market facts are not forecasts
When we quote market data, such as ecommerce growth or marketplace fees, we keep it apart from anything we say about our own services, with this line: "That is the market. It is not a forecast of what any one store will earn." We never place market figures next to "you could" language.
- Reviews and proof
We show only real reviews, linked to where they were posted. We invite every client to review us at day 30 and day 90, with no incentive, and never only happy clients. Case studies appear only with the client's written approval and state the time period they cover. If a result is not what clients generally achieve, we say what clients generally achieve next to it, as the FTC's Endorsement Guides expect (16 CFR 255.2).
